Join us on a whistle-stop tour of the USA from bluegrass, via jazz and stage classics to '80s power pop! we'll also be presenting some pieces from award-winning play The Events 2015, as well as some TCC classics. Tickets available on the door or in advance by emailing [email protected]   We're delighted to be part of the final UK performances of award-winning play The Events, by David Greig before it transfers to the US.
The play asks how far forgiveness will stretch in the face of atrocity. Featuring local choirs and a soaring soundtrack, The Events tells of tragedy, obsession and our destructive desire to fathom the unfathomable. This is a co-production of Actors Touring Company, London, Brageteatret, Drammen, Schauspielhaus Vienna and the Young Vic Theatre, London. Hackney Showroom is an industrial warehouse space and theatre, set in a 4,000 sqft former print works at Hackney Downs Studios. Enriching the cultural lives of residents of Hackney and beyond, we seek out partnerships with the very best artists and companies and present brave new work for the stage.Hackney Showroom was established in 2014 by New Future Collective – a creative and cultural organisation based in Hackney. Please update your favourites and bookmarks as we have a slightly different address - we're now .org rather than .com to reflect our intention of becoming a Charitable Incorporated Organisation. Emails to both our members and non-members mailing lists now come from [email protected], so you might need to add this to your safe email list to avoid them getting dumped in your junk folder. Choir folk might be worried that there's not a members area on this website. Never fear! I'm in the process of developing members resources so until it's ready I'll continue to email you links to helpful midis and recordings. We'll use this blog to keep the choir and wider community up to date with committee news, performance information and the like, but if you fancy blogging us about the choir or other local activities, we'd love to hear from you so please drop me an email! We rehearse on Tuesday nights 7.30-9.30 at Harris Primary Academy, Philip Lane N15 4AB. The choir is led by Musical Director Nicki Williamson, has a varied and eclectic repertoire and a membership of more than 70 local people.
